Image White Coat Profile: Kathleen LeFiles July 7, 2022 A superhero and coffee enthusiast, Kathleen LeFiles is a ‘Wildcat Wonder.’ She was raised in Tucson, AZ, and attended the University of Arizona as a physiology major for undergrad. Even prior to that, though, she had discovered an interest in medicine. It was during her freshman year of high school in biology class, as she was learning about the cardiovascular system. She was absolutely fascinated by the heart’s design and function. That interest fueled her to learn more. And with the unwavering support of her family and friends, she was able to follow that desire to pursue her education all the way to medical school. Read Full Article
Image Remembering the Legacy of Dr. William Dantzler June 27, 2022 It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden and unexpected death of our colleague, William Dantzler, MD, PhD, a member of the Founding Faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. He was widely regarded as the foremost international authority on comparative renal physiology and is remembered for his warmth, wisdom and respect. Image Trevor Nolan Tankersley earns university-wide award at the May 13 Commencement ceremony. May 15, 2022 Trevor Nolan Tankersley is graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in physiology and medical sciences. Tankersley was born in Phoenix. Interested in health care and medicine, Tankersley joined Alpha Epsilon Delta his sophomore year of college, a national health pre-professional honors society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in pre-professional health scholarship. Through AED, Tankersley participated in many community-driven volunteering events and attended many health-oriented lectures. He also volunteered at Z Mansion, working with those experiencing homelessness, and the Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation, an organization that engages young students interested in STEM who are underrepresented in these fields.
