  • Why I love being a PSIO student at the University of Arizona: Studying Physiology at the University of Arizona has been a special experience. We have a community of students who are working hard towards ambitious goals similar to your own. There are professors who are rooting for you and excited to share their own stories to inspire and uplift you on your journey. Classes are taught passionately, made to fill you with the knowledge and curiosity you need to be successful. There are sufficient challenges to test you and enough support to remind you why you started and help you come back from struggles stronger. Being a Physiology student at UofA is marked by grit and resilience. The passion and drive in the hearts of the students is evident in every lecture hall, late night study session and early morning exam. It’s amazing to be surrounded by people who don’t do what they do because it’s easy, they do it because it is hard but it is so worth it.
  • What I'm involved in outside the classroom: When I’m not in the classroom, I cherish meaningful conversations and joyful moments with my friends and family. I am involved in a campus ministry called The Navigators, leading a freshman bible study and being mentored/mentoring others in their faith. I take any chance I get to be outside and be active, participating in intramural volleyball, football and soccer. I work at McKale as an athletic training technician and volunteer in an MCB research lab studying aging. I have two little sisters who are my best friends and we love to scream and sing Taylor swift anytime we are together.
  • Future plans: I've always been someone who casts my nets wide and embraces opportunities as they come. My current rough draft for the future involves graduating with a degree in Physiology and Medical Sciences, with a minor in Journalism. Afterward, I plan to pursue a master's in Public Health with an emphasis on global health. I'm particularly interested in Medical Journalism and eager to explore the opportunities in that field. I envision myself attending PA school and working as a Physician Assistant while also engaging in freelance medical writing.
  • Ask me about: Medical Mission Trips/faith in medicine- This summer i got the opportunity to go to Israel with an ENT doc, nurses and a group of premeds to participate in rural hospital and clinic work and humanitarian volunteering. I got to assist the doctor in a surgery and experience health care abroad. Work life balance - I’ve struggled with allowing myself time to recharge so I can put my best foot forward in my schoolwork. I've learned that this means recharging daily with things that make you happy and remembering you’re human, not a machine! Working at McKale as an athletic training tech- this is such a fun job with great opportunities to get hands-on experience in medicine. I work with the school's athletes and athletic trainers assisting in treatments. Study sports in Tucson - Tucson is so much fun to explore and studying is so much more fun where you are in a fun environment!
